Talents

Twice per week, Rachel is home for dinner and not at the restaurant, which is great for me.  Last week, she did not know what to have for dinner - she started cooking, and soon I was presented with a feast worthy of serving in a restaurant.  From not knowing what to cook, to this...

...mashed potatoes, braised red cabbage, pea puree with salted pork cutlet and spicy apple jus
Not bad for a week night dinner at home!!
On Rachel's bucket list was to macaroons, and not only to make them, but to perfect them.  After watching Master Chef, she downloaded Adriano Zumbo's book on macaroons, and soon was in the kitchen, making these wonderful flavour bombs (I think that's how they would describe them in master Chef!!)
Rachel was so excited with the outcome, that she took a photo and messaged me at work.  She later mentioned that it was like getting married - that's how excited she was.  Well, these vanilla macaroons were sooo tasty - she did a fantastic job, and here is how they turned out...

Rachel also had to do the desert menu for TAFE last week - not only was she head chef at the TAFE restaurant, she was also in charge of making the deserts with other guy (Leon).  Here is a photo of what was dished out...
- icecream (made by someone else)
- sugar & cinnamon churro's
- lemon macaroon on lemon curd
- éclair with raspberry and white chocolate cheese cake filling

Not bad - doing 2 things at once!!!
